Soriano Headed To DL, Cubs Activate Colvin
CHICAGO (CBS) The Chicago Cubs have placed left fielder Alfonso Soriano on the disabled list and called up Tyler Colvin from Triple-A Iowa, the team announced on Tuesday.
Soriano has a "strained left quadriceps," but isn't expected to need the full 15 days to recover. He was hitting .271 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI in 49 games this season.
Colvin started the season in the majors, but was sent down to Triple-A after hitting .113 in 28 games. In his 12 games since being sent to the minors, Colvin was hitting .260 with five doubles, two triples and one home run.
Colvin will be available for the Cubs Tuesday night against the Houston Astros at Wrigley Field.
Soriano joins Jeff Baker (groin), Reed Johnson (back), Marlon Byrd (face), Andrew Cashner (shoulder) and Matt Garza (elbow) on DL.
