Sale To Have MRI
(WSCR) The Chris Sale saga continues.
White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper told SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio channel hosts Jim Bowden and Casey Stern that the club has scheduled an MRI to examine Sale's left elbow.
"It's scheduled right now to be done," Cooper told the radio show. "We're going to look at it. I'm not sure what day it is, but we're going to be looking at it really fast. He's a big part of the now as well as the future. He's kind of a special guy. He's got a chance to be very good. We want to make sure that we're doing everything in our power to make that happen."
Cooper also said White Sox fans should "stay tuned" to see what Sale's role will be with the team in the future and "don't be surprised if Addison Reed closes tonight if we have a lead."
Sale was recently moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen in an attempt to protect the injured elbow. Through five starts, Sale put together a 3-1 record with 2.81 ERA.
In his lone relief appearance Tuesday night, Sale recorded a blown save after giving up a hit, a walk and a run in one inning of work in last night's 10th-inning victory against the Indians.
