Report: Rashied Davis Released; Sanzenbacher Likely To Make Team
(CBS) Bears wide receiver Rashied Davis told the Chicago Tribune that he was released Wednesday morning, opening the door for Dane Sanzenbacher to make the 53-man roster.
Davis, 33, re-joined the Bears late in training camp and the battle for the sixth and final wide receiver spot appeared to come down to he and Sanzenbacher.
Sanzenbacher caught 27 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie last season and is a favorite of quarterback Jay Cutler.
Davis, who previously played with the Bears from 2005-10, is known for his special teams play, but Sanzenbacher has improved in that area since last season.
