Pujols, Wilson Sign With Angels
(CBS) Albert Pujols is heading west.
The prized free agent slugger signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday in the first big signing of the MLB offseason.
The deal is reportedly worth between $250-260 million over 10 years and includes a full no trade clause.
The Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals were battling for Pujols Wednesday when the Angels came in late on the bidding. The Marlins backed out Wednesday afternoon and the Angels made an offer. Pujols reportedly made his decision Thursday morning.
The Angels didn't stop with just Pujols, though, as prized pitcher C.J. Wilson also signed with the club Thursday. That deal is said to be worth $77.5 million over five years. Wilson helped lead the Rangers to their second straight World Series this past season.
