Report: Piniella Joins Giants' Front Office
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Former Cubs skipper Lou Piniella has joined the San Francisco Giants' front office, according to published reports.
Piniella, 67, retired as manager of the Cubs last August. He has now joined the Giants as a consultant to the team's front office, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Piniella's career spanned 48 years, from player to manager. He took the Cubs to NL Central Division championships in 2007 and 2008.
He decided to retire before the end of the season last year due to his mother's failing health.
