Pierzynski, Rangers Reach 1-Year Deal

(WSCR) As expected, A.J. Pierzynski's time on the South Side has run up.

The veteran White Sox catcher has reached a one-year deal with the Texas Rangers that will be announced Friday, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported, citing an unnamed source. The story was posted on the Rangers' website Thursday night.

The deal is contingent on Pierzynski passing a physical in Arlington, the MLB.com report said.

The 35-year-old Pierzynski had a career year in 2012, the final year of a two-year contract with the White Sox. The catcher batted .278 with a career-high 27 home runs and 77 RBIs.

Paul Konerko is now the only remaining player from the 2005 World Series team.
