Report: No Surgery Needed For Urlacher
(CBS) An MRI on Monday revealed that surgery would not be necessary at this time for Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher's left knee.
According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, the MRI revealed damage to the medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments. Urlacher's knee will need 10 weeks of rehabilitation work.
"I was thinking the worse possible scenario,'' Urlacher said Monday. "I felt something pop in my knee when I did that little move on the ground. I never hurt my knee like that before so I didn't know what to think. (Trainer) Tim Bream was out there in two seconds. They tested my ACL then and said it was fine.
"They were right on. They said MCL/PCL was what they thought, and of course they were right.''
The injury occurred late in the Bears' 17-13 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
