Report: NFL Will Enforce Player Conduct Policy During Lockout
Despite the current NFL work stoppage, and the fact that players aren't allowed to meet with or talk with their coaches, the NFL plans to enforce the player conduct policy that was put into place in 2007.
The policy allows for commissioner Roger Goodell to enact fines and possible suspensions to players at his discretion.
"While players won't be able to get the benefit of our evaluation and counseling program during the work stoppage, the personal conduct of players and employees is an integrity-of-the-game issue," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote in an e-mail to FOX Sports. "Any misconduct that is detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL will certainly be addressed when play resumes."
Now that the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and players' union has expired, players are no longer subject to league mandated testing for performance-enhancing or recreational drugs.
