Report: New Lovie Deal Could Come Within Two Weeks
There have been rumors that an extension to Lovie Smith's contract would be coming before the start of the 2011 season, if in fact there is one. And according to a report, that extension could come sooner rather than later.
According to John "Moon" Mullin, of CSN Chicago, "Smith's new contract may well be in place within the next two weeks."
According to the source, the extension would add two seasons to Smith's current contract that runs through next season. The deal is also said to be worth roughly $5.5 million.
The salary would keep Smith in the top ten among NFL head coaches, just below level of Bill Belichick, Mike Shanahan and Pete Carroll, who all earn $6 million plus.
