Report: Cubs Trade Zambrano
(WSCR) Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting the Cubs have officially traded Carlos Zambrano to the Miami Marlins.
Ken Rosenthal first reported talks of the deal late Wednesday afternoon.
Subsequent reports indicate the Cubs will eat the bulk of the $19 million remaining on Zambrano's contract. Right-handed pitcher Chris Volstad is rumored to be coming to Chicago in the trade.
Zambrano hasn't pitched for the Cubs since he walked out on his team during an August 12 game in Atlanta.
After being ejected from the game for throwing at Braves third baseman Chipper Jones twice, Zambrano cleaned out his locker and threatened retirement, though he later retracted that statement.
In 24 starts for the Cubs in 2011, the 30-year-old right-hander was 13-11 with a 4.82 ERA.
