Report: Marian Hossa Medically Cleared After April Concussion
(CBS) Marian Hossa has been medically cleared following recovery from the concussion he suffered in April, according to the Chicago Tribune's Chris Kuc.
Hossa suffered the blow when he took a dirty hit from Coyotes winger Raffi Torres during the Blackhawks' playoff series with Phoenix. Torres was originally handed a 25-game suspension, but four games were taken off the suspension in July. After sitting out 13 games during the playoffs last season, Torres will have to sit out the first eight games of this season, when -- and if -- it starts.
Hossa was taken off the ice on a stretcher and was immediately taken to the hospital. He missed the remainder of the series and there was concern that he would miss a portion of this season. With the NHL lockout now lingering into mid-December, Hossa received extra time to recover, time he obviously needed.
