Report: Man Stole Thousands Of Library Books For Resale

LISLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A 43-year old Glen Ellyn man is sitting in the DuPage County Jail this morning, charged with stealing thousands of library books.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, this was not a case of someone checking out books and forgetting to return them, or even intentionally keeping them.

Police in Lisle announced Monday that that James F. Jackson, of the 300 block of Spruce Lane in Glen Ellyn, would steal books and DVDs he knew had some value and sell them on the Internet.
Police tell the Daily Herald
had to use a box truck to haul away all the stolen goods from Jackson's apartment.
Lisle Public Library acting director Katharine Seelig told the Daily Herald she knew something wasn't right last spring, when reference books that are not allowed to be checked out were missing.
Jackson is accused of stealing the items, including many expensive reference books, to sell online, reportedly through an Amazon.com account. Other libraries whose items were recovered were not named.
Court records indicated Jackson has a criminal history dating to 1985, when he was convicted of retail theft, court records show. In January 1989, he was convicted of criminal damage to property; and in 1986 he was convicted of drunken driving.
Jackson's bond in the latest case was set at $25,000, police said.
