Report: Jordan Could Be Fined $1 Million If He Golfs With NBA Player
(CBS) Michael Jordan is one of the biggest draws during the American Century Classic celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe. Tournament organizers usually have to pay close attention to who they pair him with, and this year they'll have to be more careful.
According to a report by the Reno Gazette-Journal, Jordan could be fined $1 million dollars if he plays with a current NBA player. Much like what the NFL has been going through for over 120 days, the NBA is in a lockout of its own. And during the lockout owners and players aren't allowed to communicate with each other.
According to the newspaper, Jordan called the league on Tuesday to confirm that he could face a possible fine if he played golf with a current player.
Former Bulls and current Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro is also playing in the golf tournament, and would face a similar fine if he played with a current player.
Jordan became the first former player to own an NBA franchise when he purchased the Charlotte Bobcats outright last year.
