Report: IDOT Crews Dumped Roadkill Alongside Edens
NORTHFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- Disciplinary action is reportedly in store for some Illinois Department of Transportation workers accused of dumping roadkill instead of disposing of it properly.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bob Conway reports, the Chicago Sun-Times says the carcasses of several dead deer and a dog were found last year behind a vacant building on Frontage Road, near Tower Road, along the west side of the Edens Expressway in Northfield.

The Sun-Times says Northfield police first investigated, and later contacted, IDOT when one of the department workers admitted he had left a dead dog on the property.
Police had seen a pickup truck driven by IDOT worker Charlie Otto leaving the property, and noticed that there was fresh blood on the bed of the truck, the Sun-Times reported. He agreed to remove the dog corpse, the newspaper reported.
There was no evidence that Otto was responsible for dumping the deer carcasses, the newspaper reported.
After determining its employees were responsible for the dumping, IDOT now apologized for what it calls unacceptable and appalling conduct, the Sun-Times reported.
An Illinois state law requires animal carcasses to either be incinerated or buried on state property.
