Report: Hiring Surge In Chicago's High-Tech Industry
CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's time for Silicon Valley to move over, because a new report Monday says Chicago is becoming a bigger player in the high-tech industry.
As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, prominent social media companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are on a hiring surge in Chicago.

Crain's Chicago Business reports in addition, the market is vibrant for home-grown giants such as Groupon, Orbitz and GrubHub.
All of this is boosting Chicago's profile in the world of high-tech, Crain's reported.
Crain's says part of the reason for the beefed-up presence in Chicago is the lure of consumer giants such as McDonald's, Kraft, and Sears – all of which spend billions in advertising each year.
Chicago is also home to a thriving advertising industry, Crain's points out.
Crain's says the new tech jobs are largely sales positions, and in some cases could pay $100,000 or more.
