Report: Ex-Bear Peterson Signs With UFL
CHICAGO (CBS) Former Chicago Bears running back and special teams standout Adrian Peterson has signed a contract to join the United Football League.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Peterson signed a contract with the Virginia Destroyers.
Peterson didn't play in the NFL last season, although he had a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks during training camp. His contract with the Bears expired after the 2009 season.
The former Walter Payton Award winner at Georgia Southern (D I-AA) was selected by the Destroyers in the 3rd round, 14th overall, in last month's UFL draft.
By playing well in the UFL, Peterson will be able to showcase himself to NFL teams who may need a running back or special teams player should an injury pop up during the season.
