Report: Duke's Collins Would Take Northwestern Job
(CBS) There's been nothing but silence coming from Evanston since Northwestern's season ended with a 21-point thumping at Washington last Friday.
Head coach Bill Carmody is still under contract, but the program is being reviewed by Athletic Director Jim Phillips this week and until he says otherwise, Carmody could get fired.
Enter Duke associate head coach Chris Collins. The Northbrook native has made it clear he is interested in the Illinois job, but he refused to comment on the Northwestern job because Carmody is still the head coach.
That said, the Chicago Tribune's Teddy Greenstein reported Wednesday that Collins would take the Northwestern job if it was offered to him. He cited two associates of Collins, one of which said the Duke assistant prefers the Northwestern job over the Illinois job.
Collins is the son of Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins.
