Report: Des Plaines Teens Took Pizza Delivery Car For Joyride
DES PLAINES, Ill. (CBS) -- A couple of northwest suburban teens are in a bit of trouble after allegedly taking a joyride in a car that wasn't theirs.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Des Plaines police say this past Friday, a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested for allegedly stealing a car that belonged to a pizza delivery driver.
The Daily Herald says the driver had left the engine running while making a delivery in the 900 block of Beau Drive in Des Plaines around 7 p.m. Friday. Police tell the newspaper three teens were standing there when he got out of the car, and when he returned two of the teens were gone – along with the car itself.
The car was found a short time later on Algonquin Road near Friendship Park Conservatory, although a cell phone was missing. Police tell the Daily Herald the male alleged thief had the phone.
The boy and girl were released to their parents, and will be brought before a peer review jury on charges of criminal trespass to a vehicle, the Daily Herald reported. The delivery driver's car and cell phone were returned, the newspaper reported.
