Derrick Rose's Accuser Wants $21.5 Million in Civil Suit
(CBS) The woman who has accused Bulls point guard Derrick Rose of sexual assault is demanding $21.5 million in the civil lawsuit she's brought forth in California, according to court documents.
The ex-girlfriend claims Rose and two of his friends drugged her and then raped her in late August 2013 in California. She wants $6 million in compensatory damagers and $15.5 million in punitive damages, the court filings say.
TMZ first reported the news Wednesday morning.
Rose and his representatives have steadfastly denied the allegations of sexual assault. The Bulls have also expressed support for Rose.
"You all saw everything that was put out," Rose said on the Bulls' media day on Sept. 28. "I will be proven innocent, but at the same time it hasn't affected anything. It's not true. I take it as motivation. I feel like the devil is just working. I feel like I'm on the right track as far as where I want to be at in my life, and the direction I want to go. And I feel like that when you're that focused people just try and take you down, so I'm very confident that I will be proven innocent."
After missing all but one preseason game with a fractured left orbital, Rose scored 18 points to help the Bulls to a 97-95 victory against the Cavaliers in the season opener Tuesday night at the United Center.
