Report: Cubs Want To Bring Buehrle North
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mark Buehrle is one of the most celebrated pitchers in White Sox history, but the Cubs are reportedly now hoping to bring him north.
Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com tweeted late Tuesday that the Cubs have had "multiple discussions" with an agent for Buehrle.
CBS Sports blogger Matt Snyder says with the White Sox rebuilding under new manager Robin Ventura, the free agent Buehrle seems to be up for grabs.
The Washington Nationals have also been vying for Buehrle, and rumors have said the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox also want him.
Buehrle, 32, has been with the White Sox since his Major League debut in 2000. He is famous for his no-hitter against the Texas Rangers on April 18, 2007, and his perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 23, 2009.
Over his 12 seasons in Chicago, Buehrle went 161-119 with a 3.83 ERA.
