Report: Cubs, Dempster Discussing Possible Return
(WSCR) When Ryan Dempster was traded to the Rangers just before the 2012 trade deadline, it's safe to say there was a bad taste left in the mouth of Cubs fans.
Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer had reportedly agreed on a deal to send Dempster to the Braves in exchange for top prospect Randall Delgado. Dempster, however, vetoed the trade, leaving the Cubs grasping at straws to move the veteran pitcher before the deadline.
Dempster was instead dealt to the Rangers for a lesser package.
Now, it appears the Cubs' brass is in contact with Dempster's agent, working on a new deal that would bring him back to Chicago.
