Cubs' Cashner And Wells Headed To DL
The Chicago Cubs received some bad news on Wednesday, both Andrew Cashner and Randy Wells are headed to the disabled list. This was confirmed by 670 The Score's Connor McKnight.
Cashner was lifted from his first career start after 5.1 innings with what was described as "shoulder stiffness," he underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The MRI results revealed that Cashner suffered a strained rotator cuff.
Wells will head to the DL with a strained right forearm.
Both pitchers will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
The Cubs will call up Casey Coleman, the second call-up has not been announced. According to manager Mike Quade, James Russell is in the mix to start while both pitchers are out.
