Report: Cowboys Showing Interest In Melton, Peppers, Allen
(CBS) The Dallas Cowboys are a player in the sweepstakes to land the services of several free agent defensive linemen with ties to the Bears, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The Cowboys have scheduled a visit for defensive tackle and former Bear Henry Melton, Charean Williams reported. Dallas also reportedly has interest in defensive end and former Bear Julius Peppers and defensive end Jared Allen, who the Bears are looking at, Chicago general manager Phil Emery has said.
From the Star-Telegram:
The Cowboys also have interest in defensive ends Julius Peppers and Jared Allen if either of their price tags comes down, according to a source.
Dallas is in desperate need of a three-technique after losing Jason Hatcher. It is the position Melton played for current Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli when Marinelli was defensive coordinator of the Bears. Melton, 27, played only three games last season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2012 playing for Marinelli.
