Report: Bulls Management 'Obsessed' With Cutting Ties With Tom Thibodeau
(CBS) Amid a strong start to the postseason for the Bulls, Tom Thibodeau's coaching future with the team has again taken center stage.
It's been well-documented that Bulls management and Thibodeau have a greatly strained relationship, and now the reckoning is nearing. Bulls management is "obsessed" with cutting ties Thibodeau, Yahoo! Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday morning.
Even with Derrick Rose's recent splendid play, "The end is coming for Thibodeau with these Bulls," Wojnarowski wrote.
More from Wojnarowski:
"When management has tried sidling to (Derrick) Rose, he's never sold out Thibodeau. When people have tried to blame Thibodeau for playing a part in Rose's rash of injuries, Rose has never blinked. In a lot of ways, the Bulls-Thibodeau partnership survived because of Rose. Even now, his stature won't stop the inevitable parting this spring."
The writing of Wojnarowski -- a contributor to 670 The Score -- echoes what he said on the airwaves a couple months back, when he raised doubts about even a championship parade saving Thibodeau's job.
There are many factors in the strained relationship between Thibodeau and the management pairing of John Paxson and Gar Forman. There has been disagreement over minutes restrictions and how hard to push a team through the season. All parties have a stubborn side. And tracing back to summer 2013, Thibodeau was displeased when the front office cut ties with Ron Adams, his trusted assistant.
Chicago currently leads its second-round series 1-0 over Cleveland.
Again, the full article from Wojnarowski is worth the time for any Bulls fan to read. Thibodeau has two years left on his contract with the Bulls.
