Briggs Out 'Around 6 Weeks' With Shoulder Injury
(CBS) The bad news keeps coming for the Chicago Bears.
Linebacker Lance Briggs will miss "around six weeks" with a shoulder fracture suffered in Sunday's loss to the Redskins, the team announced Monday.
Surgery won't be needed.

The veteran linebacker injured his left shoulder while trying to shed a block in the third quarter on a routine play. Briggs did not return and was replaced by Blake Costanzo.
"Lance will always be the leader here," cornerback Tim Jennings said. "Even though he's not on the field playing with us, he's going to be on the sideline coaching guys up. And we still have Peanut out there. We have myself. We've got Julius. We've still got guys out there who are capable of being the leaders out there. But one guy is not going to carry us all (with Lance out). We just need every guy to do their job and be where he's supposed to be to pick up the slack now that Lance won't be out there with us."
Costanzo seems to be the likely replacement, but rookie Khaseem Greene could also fill in.
Rookie linebacker Jon Bostic is already the starting middle linebacker, replacing the injured D.J. Williams.
The Bears' defense has already lost Williams, Henry Melton and Nate Collins for the season.
