Report: Bosh Returns To Heat On $118M Deal
(CBS) It wasn't all bad for the Heat on Friday.
Chris Bosh has agreed to return to the Miami on a five-year, $118-million deal, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported, spurning a Rockets team that had maneuvered to clear salary cap space for a max deal for him. His move came on the same day that star LeBron James announced he was leaving Miami to return to his homestate Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bosh turned down a four-year, $88-million contract offer from the Rockets, who were trying to slide him into a lineup alongside fellow stars Dwight Howard, James Harden and Chandler Parsons. Earlier Friday, the Rockets had traded guard Jeremy Lin and a first-round draft pick to the Lakers for cap space, but their plan to land a star appears to have failed.
Houston also chased James and Carmelo Anthony, who according to reports is choosing between Chicago and New York.
Bosh was instrumental in helping the Heat win two titles and advance to the NBA Finals four times in the past four years alongside James and Dwyane Wade. He sacrificed greatly for Miami, never averaging more than 18.7 points the past four years after averaging at least 22 in the previous four in Toronto, but now he'll get his money and a chance to be the leading man again.
