Report: Blackhawks Place Kyle Cumiskey On Waivers
(CBS) The Blackhawks have placed defenseman Kyle Cumiskey on waivers, according to Canadian hockey reporter Elliotte Friedman, which assuming he passes through would then allow him to be sent down to Rockford of the AHL. That would open up room for defenseman Michal Rozsival, who is close to returning from an upper-body injury.
The Blackhawks indicated that Rozsival might play in Wednesday night's loss to the Flames, but he was held out a little longer. Chicago play next against Nashville on Saturday.
Rozsival has been part-time player for the Blackhawks the past few seasons, and he will likely get a chance to fill a spot on the third line. The Blackhawks have mixed up their defensive pairings early in the season, separating Johnny Oduya and Niklas Hjalmarsson after they regularly played together last season.
