Report: Blackhawks And Seabrook Close To New Contract
The Chicago Blackhawks and Brent Seabrook could be close to a deal that would keep the defenseman in a Blackhawks sweater for a while.
According to a report by Bob McKenzie of TSN, the two sides are close to a new contract that could be in five-year range and worth $5.8 million per season.
He's one of the key players to a Blackhawks defensive corps that could be a strength of the team for years to come. The team already has Duncan Keith, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Brian Campbell signed to long-term contracts.
Seabrook has 33 points (4G, 29A), a +2 rating, 36 penalty minutes and 171 hits this season.
The Blackhawks play the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday at the United Center.
