Bears Release Bell, Sign TE Eldridge
(WSCR) Back up running back Kahlil Bell's time with the Bears has come to an end.
The Bears released Bell on Monday and signed tight end Brody Eldridge to a one-year contract.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Eldridge has started 16 of 27 games over two seasons with the Colts, recording 14 receptions for 84 yards. He was selected by Colts in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.
Bell was waived by the Bears earlier this season after the running back refused to take a pay cut from his $1.26 million salary. He was re-signed by the team on Sept. 15 after Matt Forte suffered an ankle injury.
