Report: Bears' Tillman Fined $7,500 For Face Mask Grab
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears cornerback Charles "Peanut" Tillman has been fined $7,500 for grabbing the face mask of a Carolina Panthers receiver in the game last week, according to a published report.
On Sunday of last week, the Tillman grabbed the face mask of Carolina receiver Brandon LaFell. He was penalized 15 yards for the third-quarter play, and the Panthers went on to convert a 38-yard field goal, the Chicago Tribune pointed out.
But now, Tillman has also been fined $7,500 for the infraction, the Tribune reported.
Bears safety Brandon Meriweather was also fined following the game, for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Panthers receiver Steve Smith in the play after Tillman's run-in with LaFell, the Tribune reported.
Meriweather said he plans to appeal the fine. As a repeat offender, Meriweather's fine was larger than average.
The Bears beat the Panthers 34-29 in the Oct. 2 game.
