Report: Bears' Ray McDonald Cleared By NFL Following Domestic Abuse Investigation
(CBS) The NFL has ruled that new Bears defensive lineman Ray McDonald hasn't violated the league's personal conduct policy following an investigation into a domestic violence incident, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday afternoon.
The domestic violence investigation stemmed from McDonald being arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence last August, but charges weren't filed in that case, with officials citing a lack of sufficient evidence.
The NFL's investigation into an alleged sexual assault incident in which McDonald has been accused of wrongdoing is still open, the Sun-Times reported. He hasn't been charged in that case that was opened last December, but it was at least part of the reason the 49ers released him shortly thereafter.
Both cases have their roots in San Jose, Calif.
The Bears signed McDonald to a one-year deal in March.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound McDonald had three sacks in 14 games in 2014. He's played in 115 career games, with 68 starts. He has 19.5 career sacks.
