Report: Anthony Will Take Visits, Then Make Decision Second Week Of July
(CBS) Star forward Carmelo Anthony plans to visit the cities of his suitors and then make his free agency decision the second week of July, Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears reported.
Anthony's expected to visit the Bulls, Rockets, Lakers and Mavericks, as well as meet with the Knicks, Spears reported. The notable omission on that list was the Miami Heat.
At this point, there's "no front-runner" for the 30-year-old Anthony, Spears reported.
The Anthony sweepstakes will largely come down to how much he wants to chase championships against how much he wants to get paid. The Knicks can offer him a five-year deal worth about $129 million, while other teams can max out around four years and $95 million.
Free agency starts July 1, and players can officially sign on July 10. Between then, they can give verbal commitments.
