Report: A-Rod Unlikely To Ever Play For Yankees Again
(CBS) - Struggling to return from a hip injury and mired in yet another PED scandal, a report from the New York Daily News claims Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez may have played his last game in pinstripes.
The report claims Rodriguez's injury will likely derail the rest of his playing career, and the third baseman may retire or seek a settlement for the remaining five years and $114 million left on his contract.
"I don't know why he would want to go through the pain of rehabbing and trying to play up to the caliber of player he was, and come back to a game where nobody wants him," a source told the newspaper.
"If he did that, he'd be a part-time player and presumably unable to achieve any of the incentive clauses in the contract or even the milestones."
The Miami New Times published a report earlier this week again implicating Rodriguez with PEDs. Still, the Daily News' report claims the Yankees had already begun privately discussing ways to get rid of the 14-time All Star.
