Reinsdorf: White Sox Still 'Best Team In The Division'
CHICAGO (WSCR) The Chicago White Sox have a payroll of roughly $127 million, but 62 games into the season, only have 29 wins and trail the Cleveland Indians by six games in the AL Central.
Despite that, owner Jerry Reinsdorf says they haven't picked a date to start trading away salary if things don't improve.
"Not yet. We haven't picked any dates. But we think we're going to move (up in the standings)," Reinsdorf told Jon Paul Morosi, of FoxSports.com. "We think we're going to be all right. I still think we have the best team in the division. Once [Adam] Dunn starts hitting, he can carry a whole ballclub."
Dunn, the White Sox's big free agent signing in the offseason, is hitting a mere .176 with five home runs and 23 RBI. His struggles have been well chronicled, and with a track record of being very consistent, have also been a surprise.
"What's past is past. I don't know that he's going to take his average all the way from what it is today to his normal average," Reinsdorf said. "But I would think, the rest of the year, he'll be what he normally is. It's just a matter of confidence."
