Red Line Trains Rerouted Due To Reported Smoke In Subway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- CTA Red Line trains had to be rerouted to the Loop 'L' tracks Friday morning, after a report of smoke in the State Street subway.
Crews are investigating reports that a fuse blew in the subway at 608 S. State St., near the Harrison stop, at 7:29 a.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
The automatic still-and-box alarm and EMS Plan 1 -- which automatically calls five ambulances to the scene -- were called, Rosado said.
Because of the problem, Red Line trains were rerouted to the 'L' tracks. Northbound and southbound trains were stopping at the Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt stations instead of regular underground stations until further notice, according to the CTA.
No one was injured, Rosado said.
The still-and-box alarm and EMS Plan I were struck out and secured about 7:40 a.m., Rosado said.
