Red Light Cameras To Be Taken Offline In Naperville
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- Drivers in Naperville are going to get a break from red light cameras.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, two intersections in Naperville are now outfitted with red light cameras, on Route 59 at the junctions with Diehl and Aurora roads. A third was planned for Ogden and Aurora avenues.

The Naperville City Council voted Tuesday night to end its red light camera contract early and do away with the cameras, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The council was deadlocked 4-4 on whether to renew the contract, and since there was no majority, the contract will end.
The contract will now expire early next year, the newspaper reported.
The red light camera program was already set to end when a road construction and widening project begins on Route 59 next year, but officials concluded that the third planned camera on Ogden Avenue would not have paid for itself through ticket revenues, the Tribune reported.
City Manager Doug Krieger says terminating the contract will cost the city $261,000 a year, the Tribune reported.
But motorists on Route 59 will no longer have to look over their shoulders, particularly if they go through and make a right turn coming up on red at North Aurora or Diehl Road.
The cameras will be taken offline on Jan. 3, the Tribune reported.
