Record Year For Highway Safety
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Illinois is on track to close out 2010 with a record for highway safety.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Michele Fiore reports, this will be the second consecutive year that less than 1,000 people have lost their lives on Illinois highways.

So far this year, there have been 916 highway deaths in Illinois. Last year, the total was 911.
To keep the numbers in check over the next 24 hours, state and local police plan to crack down on drunk drivers and those caught without a seat belt.
