Reassignment Of Marshall High School Principal Sparks Protest By Teachers, Parents
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some students, parents and teachers who are upset over the reassignment of the principal of Marshall High School held a protest Monday, reports WBBM's Terry Keshner.
Jennifer Jones teaches P.E. at Marshall and says CPS should have given a better explanation for Principal Angel Johnson's removal, and it's especially disruptive because the school year has already started.
"You're just snatching the structure we have already put in place, you are just snatching it from under us and it is just not fair to not have any blueprints as to why," Jones said.

CPS spokesman Bill McCaffrey said in a statement, "CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett appointed Ms. Lori Campbell to serve as principal of Marshall Metropolitan High School after successfully leading Piccolo Elementary Specialty School. While the District understands change can be difficult, we are confident this transition is in the best interest of students and the Marshall school community, and we will work with students, families and the community to ensure a productive and successful school year."
Tavarla Harrell-Griffin is the parent of a Marshall senior and says CPS should provide a better explanation.
"Very, very sad to see her being let go for who knows why? For doing a good job? Are we all going to be let go for doing a good job?" said Harrell-Griffin.
Many say Marshall's graduation rate, attendance and discipline all improved under Johnson.
