Rear-Ended Vehicle Catches Fire On Dan Ryan
CHICAGO (STMW) - A vehicle caught fire after being rear-ended by another vehicle early Saturday on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The vehicle got a flat tire and was in the right lane straddling the shoulder of the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan (I-94) at 87th Street at 2:20 a.m., Illinois State Police District Chicago Sgt. Anthony Ostrowski said.
Another vehicle rear-ended the stranded vehicle, which then caught fire, Ostrowski said. The occupants of the stranded vehicle were able to escape before the fire began.
The vehicles involved were a 2008 Chrysler 300 and a 1992 Buick Roadmaster, Ostrowski said. It is unclear which vehicle was rear-ended.
One person was taken with minor injuries to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.
