Rare Frank Lloyd Wright Row House For Sale On South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Fans of Frank Lloyd Wright currently have an opportunity to snap up a rare Wright-designed row house in the city.
One of the Roloson Row Houses just hit the market for $685,000.
The Roloson House is the only row home development ever commissioned by the famed architect.
This row house was built in 1894 and is approximately 4,500 square feet, according to the listing.
The four bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home, includes multi-level living spaces along with a receiving room, parlor, and library.
The kitchen has been fully updated.
Located in The Gap, just north and east of Bronzeville, at 3215 S. Calument, the house was designed by Wright for Robert W. Roloson, a successful grain merchant and a member of the Chicago Stock Exchange.
The row houses were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. They were designated a Chicago Landmark on December 27, 1979
Wright designed the row houses shortly after his "bootlegging" phase was discovered by his mentor Louis Sullivan. Wright has secretly worked on several homes, including three just down the street from his Oak Park home on Chicago Avenue. The discovery angered Sullivan and the two parted ways.
The legacy of the Wright designed homes was largely forgotten by the 1930s.
Later, as the area began to decline, the row houses were subdivided into apartments.
