Rapper Lil Reese Charged With Cannabis Possession
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Def Jam rapper Lil Reese was arrested and charged with cannabis possession Saturday, marking his third arrest since April.
The 20-year-old South Side Washington Park man, whose real name is Tavares Taylor, was with a group of people in the 6400 block of South Eggleston Avenue at 7:40 p.m. when officers approached them during a street stop, police said.
Taylor turned and began walking down a gangway, police said. He then took from his a pocket a bag that appeared to contain cannabis and attempted to hide it.
Officers searched him and found the cannabis, police said.
Taylor, of the 5100 block of South Wabash Avenue, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of cannabis and violation of a bail bond for a previous misdemeanor theft charge that court records said Taylor "presented false documentation to obtain" a 2006 BMW 750 Li on April 13.
A friend of the legally troubled South Side rapper Chief Keef, Lil Reese was arrested in Chicago in April after Champaign police identified him as the alleged attacker in a 2012 videotaped beating of a Downstate woman.
Taylor is expected to appear Sunday in bond court.
