Rangers Draft Seahawks QB Russell Wilson
(CBS) The Texas Rangers have drafted Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The Rangers selected Wilson in today's Rule 5 draft, which allows teams to draft minor league players not currently on a 40-man roster, but that still have accumulated a certain amount of service time.
Wilson, a second baseman in his baseball days, was originally drafted out of high school by the Orioles in 2007. He elected to go to college instead, playing three seasons at NC State.
After his time at NC State, Wilson was drafted by the Rockies in the fourth round in 2010. He spent parts of two seasons in Single-A, hitting .229 with five homers, 26 RBIs and 19 stolen bases in 379 plate appearances.
