Rain Postpones Key Game Between White Sox, Tigers
CHICAGO (CBS/AP) – Thursday evening's decisive final game of a four-game series between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers has been postponed due to rain and will be played early next week.
The White Sox hold a slim, one-game lead against Detroit in the AL Central Division and hoped to increase that gap. The Tigers, however, had taken two of the first three games this week at U.S. Cellular Field.
The makeup game will be played Monday at 1:10 p.m. Game tickets and parking coupons for tonight's postponed contest will be honored then, the team announced.
Aces Justin Verlander of the Tigers and Chris Sale of the White Sox were scheduled to pitch Thursday night but neither warmed up.
The White Sox now go to Minnesota and Detroit heads to Cleveland before returning to Chicago on Monday to play their final regular-season. Detroit leads the series 12-5.
