Rabid Bat Forces Partial Closure Of Arlington Heights Village Hall
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (CBS) -- Arlington Heights has had to close part of its village hall, after a rabid bat was found inside.
As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, Village Director of Building and Health Services James McCalister says the tiny brown bat was found on the fourth floor – where the police crime lab is located.
That floor has been closed, while animal control workers determine if there are any more bats.

McCalister says the department is not worried that anyone working in the Village Hall was exposed.
"If you get a bat in the house and people are sleeping, then you worry about it in bedrooms, but obviously, there's not that type of situation," he said.
How did the bat get in?
"This is actually called a little brown bat. They're only a little over 3 inches long, so it doesn't take, as you can imagine, much of an entry point for them to get into the building up there," McCalister said.
The village has hired a company to come in and make sure there are no more bats in the building.
