Quinn To Appoint Panel To Examine State's Pension Program
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says he is going to create a new working group to examine the state's troubled pension system and recommend changes.
As WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports, Quinn says he does not want to comment directly on a report that Illinois State University has deemed some private employees eligible for public pensions.

But he used the occasion to announce that he will convene a bipartisan, broad-based panel to look into the state's troubled pension system, and recommend changes to prevent abuses.
"I want to have a robust dialogue in the coming months, but we are going to be acting, I think, on important matters that protect our pensions and make sure they're there for everybody," Quinn said.
Former Quinn chief of staff Jerry Stermer, who is now a senior adviser, will head up the panel.
