Quinn Signs Law To Make Mass Transit Operations More Transparent

(CBS) -- Governor Pat Quinn has signed a mass transit reform law intended to make the operations of transit agencies more transparent and accountable.

WBBM's Mike Krauser reports the measure requires advance transit board and legislative committee review for any proposed mass transit employee contract exciting $100,000.

It also requires advance board review of any proposed employee bonus exceeding 10 percent or any large employee separation agreement or settlement.

The legislation comes on the heels of reports of patronage, financial impropriety and hidden conflicts of interest and inappropriate influence over contracts awarded by Metra.
