Quinn Signs Law Reinstating Database With Information On Doctors

The act will put information such as judgments and malpractice lawsuits against doctors back online. The searchable database will be reopened in about two months with information on more than 46,000 doctors.

The Web site had to be taken down when the Illinois Supreme Court struck down the medical practice reform law. The court found the database unconstitutional.

Illinois Medical Society President Dr. Wayne Polek says the doctor profiles should have been wrapped into larger legislation.
