Quinn Seeks To Invest $50 Million In State Scholarship Program
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gov. Pat Quinn is seeking to invest $50 million in the state's scholarship program.
As WBBM Newsradio' Bob Conway reports, Quinn said Sunday that a lack of money should not prevent any student from attending college.
The Illinois state's Monetary Assistance Program provides grants to residents attending in-state colleges and universities.
The program currently assists 150,000 students in paying for college. Quinn aims to help thousands more on the waiting list.
He is asking state lawmakers to make investments in financial aid and early childhood education.
