Quinn On Trailing In Polls: I've Been Underestimated Before
Rauner Leading Quinn 51-39 In Latest Poll
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gov. Pat Quinn said he's not worried about a new poll showing Republican challenger Bruce Rauner more than a dozen points ahead among likely voters.
WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports the Democratic incumbent seemed unfazed by a Chicago Sun-Times opinion poll showing Rauner leading the race 51-38.
Quinn insisted he has Rauner just where he wants him.
"There's 12 weeks from tomorrow [before the November election], and I've been underestimated. I've been an underdog in every race I've been in, and last time around, they said I was out. Turned out I won," he said. "I have total confidence that our campaign and our issues will prevail."
He also dismissed figures showing voters surveyed feel Rauner is the reformer in the race, not Quinn.
"I have a record of reform that I'm very proud of. I started the Citizens Utility Board more than 30 years ago. We have raised the minimum wage in the past, we've got to do it again. I have disclosed my income tax returns and schedules every year I've been in public office," the governor said.
Quinn chided Rauner for not disclosing all of his income tax schedules.
