Quinn Heads To Canada To Promote Illinois Business

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- Gov. Pat Quinn took a surprise trip to Canada Monday to promote Illinois trade and business opportunities.

As WBBM Newsradio's David Roe reports, Quinn was in Toronto Monday, attending the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association trade show.

Ten Illinois companies mounted exhibits at the show, funded by grant money.

Quinn says the visit was a chance to promote Illinois "on a global stage."

Canada is the largest Illinois export market, taking more than $19 billion worth of exports from the state last year alone.

Quinn spent time promoting Illinois as a tourist destination, attending a "Visit Illinois" tourism luncheon in Toronto.
